A Thank You Note

Psalms 146: 1-10, "Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul."

David wrote a lot of songs thanking God and Psalms 146 is no different. David knew his flesh failed him and he knew royalty doesn't make a person right or righteous.

David, even as a King, put his trust in God and thanked Him for his never ending mercy.

David says in Psalms 121:1, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. "

If your flesh failed you before, why would you trust it a second time?

It's better to put your trust in the one who will never fail you, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Psalms 146:5, " Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:"

David knew where his hope came from and where that hope is.

Heaven is real and eternal.

It's a real hope that doesn't fade away or offer only temporal satisfaction.

The hope that David had produced great joy in his soul.

He thanked God in all circumstances because his foundation was built on the solid rock of God.

Help from people are temporal but help from God is lasting and complete!

We too can find joy like King David by serving God and other people.

Psalms 146:9, "The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down."

David was protected by his soldiers and he was skilled in fighting, however all that protection and skill was not where he put his protection in. David's protection was in the Lord.

This is not our home, we are foreigners here, nevertheless, while we are here the Lord will protect us as he did David.

Life can become overwhelming, stand firm dear brother, dear sister. Stand firm in your help, your joy, and your hope.

Psalms 146:9 "but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down."

God can turn anything and anyone around.

God will even turn us upside down so we will see we need Him to turn us right side up.

Write a thank you note to God and then keep that note in your Bible. When life gets overwhelming go to your Bible, go to God in prayer, and read your thank you note.

Remind yourself that the God of the mountain is still God in the valley!
